Rasmussen: People Trust the GOP More on Every Issue

Via Rasmussen

Conservatives are fond of saying that this is a "center-right" country. From the looks of these numbers and some of the other numbers on the page I linked to up there, this isn't a "center-right" country. It's almost completely right.

Just look at the results when people are asked about taxes.

Tax Increases Help or Hurt Economy? Help: 19% Hurt: 56%
Tax Cuts Help or Hurt Economy? Help: 57% Hurt: 16%
Increases in Gov't Spending Help or Hurt Economy? Help: 24% Hurt: 55%
Decreases in Gov't Spending Help or Hurt Economy? Help: 49% Hurt: 26%

So why can't the GOP convert some of these sentiments into actual wins in elections?

Here's why: The GOP, for some inexplicable reason, thinks they can win more votes by being more centrist. But look at the numbers. If everyone voted the way they responded to this poll, the GOP should be winning landslides every time they go out.

The problem is not that the country has become more liberal; it's that the Republican party has.

Give the country unabashedly conservative candidates and the Republicans will win elections. Do it not, and Republicans will continue in this death-spiral until the liberals screw everything up so badly that people have no choice but to vote Republican.

Last time we took that approach, Democrats controlled the house for 40 years. Are we really ready to go down that road again?

Holy Cow: White House Emails MSNBC On Air to Correct a Story

(Via Gateway Pundit)
I wonder if the subject line simply read "propaganda."

Beck has had a red phone manned by a guy in a Mao outfit for several days now and not a peep from the White House. One can only assume that since they do contact news organizations to correct errors, the White House's silence on Glenn Beck's phone constitutes agreement with what he's saying each night.

Newest ACORN Video: Philadelphia

"You're going to the World Series! Now what are you going to do?"

"Support an underage international prostitution ring via a nationally-known community organizer group!"

In other words, BigGovernment strikes again. This time Philly is the target, but the video also targets the media who spoke out against the filmmakers.

Note: "We muted the audio of the ACORN employees on the video released today due to ACORN’s legal attack upon us. We call upon ACORN to state publicly now that it has no objection to the public release of any its employees oral statements to us. If they are interested in the truth, why wouldn’t they do so?"

Another Obama Czar Praises Mao

We already know Anita Dunn loves Mao like she loves Mother Theresa. Now another Obama czar, Ron Bloom, the Manufacturing Czar, claims he also likes Mao.

Bloom ups the ante though by suggesting that violence is a means to political power.

So the man responsible for the death of 60 million people's suggestion to use violence to gain power was "kind of right."

Doesn't that give you confidence in this administration who loves nothing more than to gain power, has access to the biggest guns in the world, and has publicly stated the desire to establish a domestic security force that is as well-funded as the military?

Power at the end of a gun indeed.

Obama Crowd Boos Gov. Jindal. Obama's Response is Classy

Credit given where credit is due. When the crowd of Obama supporters begin booing at the mention of Gov. Bobby Jindal, President Obama's response is very classy.

My response would have been something along the lines of, "Seriously? You're booing Jindal? He's led Louisiana from being a national joke and a breeding ground for institutional corruption into a state that the rest of the nation could learn from. I'm looking at you, California."

And that's also why I'm not a politician.

The Final Destination of Obamacare. Good News! It's Extremely Funny!

"I got a triple fracture of the right leg, a dislocated collar bone, and multiple head injuries, so I do most of the heavy work, like helping the surgeon."

"What does that involve?"

"Well, at the moment we're building him a holiday home."
Classic.

Anita Dunn's Favorite Political Philosopher: Mao Tse Tung

You remember Anita Dunn. The woman who complained on CNN for 9 minutes about FOX.

She might have a point. Mao killed 70 million people. What have you accomplished with your life? That's what I thought.

Racist George Soros Part of Rams Bid? Hello NFL! Are You Listening?

This morning Rush Limbaugh confirmed that he is no longer part of the group that is bidding on the Rams. No longer being under the confidentiality agreement, he went on to describe the events that led to him become part of the group in the first place. But the significant part of the story came where he described how the group lost its majority party (it wasn't Rush), and that the story leaked when the new majority member joined the group.

Rush speculated on the air that the new majority member may be liberal billionaire George Soros. The story graces the Bloomberg.com site as well..

This makes sense.
Soros lost a bid to purchase the Italian football (soccer)team, A.S. Roma in May 2008.
In 2003, Soros and Dave Checkletts failed in a bid to purchase the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Let's assume that Soros is a member of the group bidding to purchase the Rams. Doesn't Soros deserve the same scrutiny that Rush did?

Soros was a Nazi Collaborator
George Soros Interview On 60 Minutes

When the Nazis occupied Budapest in 1944, George Soros' father was a successful lawyer. He lived on an island in the Danube and liked to commute to work in a rowboat. But knowing there were problems ahead for the Jews, he decided to split his family up. He bought them forged papers and he bribed a government official to take 14-year-old George Soros in and swear that he was his Christian godson. But survival carried a heavy price tag. While hundreds of thousands of Hungarian Jews were being shipped off to the death camps, George Soros accompanied his phony godfather on his appointed rounds, confiscating property from the Jews.

KROFT: (Voiceover) These are pictures from 1944 of what happened to George Soros' friends and neighbors.

(Vintage footage of women and men with bags over their shoulders walking; crowd by a train)

KROFT: (Voiceover) You're a Hungarian Jew…

Mr. SOROS: (Voiceover) Mm-hmm.

KROFT: (Voiceover) …who escaped the Holocaust…

(Vintage footage of women walking by train)

Mr. SOROS: (Voiceover) Mm-hmm.

(Vintage footage of people getting on train)

KROFT: (Voiceover) …by–by posing as a Christian.

Mr. SOROS: (Voiceover) Right.

(Vintage footage of women helping each other get on train; train door closing with people in boxcar)

KROFT: (Voiceover) And you watched lots of people get shipped off to the death camps.

Mr. SOROS: Right. I was 14 years old. And I would say that that's when my character was made.

KROFT: In what way?

Mr. SOROS: That one should think ahead. One should understand and–and anticipate events and when–when one is threatened. It was a tremendous threat of evil. I mean, it was a–a very personal experience of evil.

KROFT: My understanding is that you went out with this protector of yours who swore that you were his adopted godson.

Mr. SOROS: Yes. Yes.

KROFT: Went out, in fact, and helped in the confiscation of property from the Jews.

Mr. SOROS: Yes. That's right. Yes.

KROFT: I mean, that's–that sounds like an experience that would send lots of people to the psychiatric couch for many, many years. Was it difficult?

Mr. SOROS: Not–not at all. Not at all. Maybe as a child you don't–you don't see the connection. But it was–it created no–no problem at all.

KROFT: No feeling of guilt?

Mr. SOROS: No.

KROFT: For example that, 'I'm Jewish and here I am, watching these people go. I could just as easily be there. I should be there.' None of that?

Mr. SOROS: Well, of course I c–I could be on the other side or I could be the one from whom the thing is being taken away. But there was no sense that I shouldn't be there, because that was–well, actually, in a funny way, it's just like in markets–that if I weren't there–of course, I wasn't doing it, but somebody else would–would–would be taking it away anyhow. And it was the–whether I was there or not, I was only a spectator, the property was being taken away. So the–I had no role in taking away that property. So I had no sense of guilt.
Soros gleefully admitted to profiting due to the economic collapse

Soros supports La Raza (Spanish for The Race), a racist activist group.

Which means that money can easily be siphoned off to groups such as the National Council of La Raza and the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now. The latter has been heavily funded by George Soros, the mega-wealthy mogul behind many liberal causes.

I'm sure I could find more on Soros, but this is what Google found after a five minute search. Now I'll just sit back and wait for the NFL to determine that Soros is too divisive to be an owner.

Change: Obama Lost More Jobs Since Election than Bush Did in Eight Years

This chart shows the monthly unemployment percentages since 1999 from Bill Parson's
2010 campaign website
.

Let's compare the unemployment rate at the time of Bush's election with the unemployment rate when Obama was elected.

November 2000 - 3.9%
November 2008 - 6.8%
Total percentage lost - 2.9%

From the election of George W. Bush until the election of Barack Obama the unemployment rate rose 2.9%. (Bush wasn't actually declared the winner of the 2000 election until December of 2000, but the rate was the same for December, too.)

Now look at Obama's record from his election to the present. The chart is a bit outdated as it does not show September's unemployment rate of 9.8%.

November 2008 - 6.8%
September 2009 - 9.8%
Total percentage lost - 3.0%

What this means is that in the 11 months since Obama's election, he has lost more jobs for America than Bush did in the eight years of his presidency. Bush saw the unemployment rate rise by 2.9% over eight years while Barack Obama saw the unemployment rate rise by 3.0% in merely 11 months.

Change indeed.

The Other (More Deserving) Nobel Prize Nominees

If Barack Obama won the Nobel Prize after being nominated less than two weeks, some have wondered whether the field was just really weak this time around. I'm afraid not. Obama's win is similar to the scandalous win by Al Gore over Irena Sendler.

This list comes from The Weekly Standard.

Sima Samar
In 1984 communists arrested Sima's husband, so she fled Afghanistan with her son. In 1989 Sima Samar established an organization called the Shuhada Organization for women who were refugees from Afghanistan. The Shuhada provided health care and education for women suffering under the soviet occupation of Afghanistan. In 2002 Sima returned to Afghanistan to become the Minister of Women's Affairs in the post-Taliban Afghanistan. After numerous death threats and other political hardships, Samar stepped down from her cabinet position to assume the role as chair of the Independent Afghanistan Human Rights Commission.

Ingrid Betancourt
You might not remember her name, but you likely remember the story. Betancourt had been held for six years as a hostage by Colombian guerrillas when the Colombian government sent a helicopter to where the hostages were being held. Masquerading as fellow rebels, the government officials convinced the rebels that the hostages were to be moved to another rebel hideout. Within half and hour the hostages, including Betancourt, were on the helicopter and were free. Betancourt had been a presidential candidate at the time of her capture and she was an outspoken activist working against corruption the Colombian government.

Denis Mukwege

Dr. Mukwege founded the Panzi Hospital in Congo where his primary role is treating the women and girls who have been victims of gang rape. According to his Wikipedia page, "He has treated 21,000 women during the Congo's 12-year war, some of them more than once, performing up to 10 surgeries a day during his 18-hour working days." Dr. Mukwege won the United Nations Human Rights prize in 2008.

Handicap International and Cluster Munition Coalition - These organizations are involved in any number of humanitarian causes, but the primary focus of their Nobel nomination was for their work to clean up land mines left over from wars. The mines obviously pose a hazard for people who live in the places where they are planted. Many people have lost limbs or their lives to the hidden bombs from wars that ended years earlier.

Hu Jia - He is a Chinese activist who has regularly spoken out against injustices taking place in Communist China. Has has been imprisoned on numerous occasions and is currently serving a three and a half year sentence for "inciting subversion of state power." Reports from with the prison state he is suffering from malnutrition and poor medical care. He is known for using the internet to leverage foreign governments to action in the cause of human rights efforts in China. Last year his wife and daughter "disappeared" the day before the opening ceremonies of the Beijing Summer Olympic Games. She had been vocally opposed to the games because of China's record on human rights.

Wei Jinsheng - Jinsheng has been a political pawn in Chinese foreign relations for three decades. He was imprisoned in 1973 for speaking out against the communist system in China, but was released in order to gain favor with the International Olympic Committee in 1993. When China lost the bid to Sydney, Wei was recaptured and imprisoned. He was released again in 1997 and deported to the United States. Many of his published writings were smuggled from prison after he wrote the works on scraps of toilet paper. Internationally, he has been called the "Nelson Mandela of China" and the "Father of Chinese Democracy."

If only these people had known that the path to a Nobel Prize was paved with pretty speeches and lofty idealism, they could have sat in their comfy Chicago homes while their book royalties rolled in and then played Senator for a few months before becoming the President of the United States.

Helping the poor and disabled is for chumps. They should have been eating $100 per pound Wagyu steak and having celebrities over for dinner. That's how you bring peace to the world.

DNC: Criticize Obama's Peace Prize and You Side With the Terrorists

Are you skeptical as to whether Obama's nine months as president qualifies him for the Nobel Peace Prize? Then according to the DNC you're siding with the terrorists.

"The Republican Party has thrown in its lot with the terrorists - the Taliban and Hamas this morning - in criticizing the President for receiving the Nobel Peace prize," DNC communications director Brad Woodhouse told POLITICO. "Republicans cheered when America failed to land the Olympics and now they are criticizing the President of the United States for receiving the Nobel Peace prize - an award he did not seek but that is nonetheless an honor in which every American can take great pride - unless of course you are the Republican Party.
Yes, if you oppose giving the do-nothing president the same prize afforded to terrorist Yasser Arafat, then you're the one who is siding with the terrorists.

Snopes Has Yet to Confirm. Obama's Nobel Win May Still Be a Hoax

I had to rub my eyes when I read the news this morning. Surely it was a joke. I checked the URL three times to make sure I wasn't reading the Onion. Then I quickly shot off a Google search to corroborate the story. Snopes is still silent on the issue, so it could be the best hoax ever, but I'm afraid it's true.

Barack Obama won the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize.

Say it together now: "W. T. F."

As Erick Erickson tweeted: Obama is becoming Jimmy Carter faster than Jimmy Carter became Jimmy Carter.

Sadly, This is Not a Joke

Obama has this painting hanging in the White House.

Seriously.

Question: Is this the flow chart he's using to plot the course in Afghanistan?

CNN "Journalist" Flabbergasted "Chicago is out?"

How... could... this... happen?

Side note: I'm not sure how appropriate it is to say "Madrid is in? Tokyo is in?" in that disparaging tone. It might make them hate America.

Let me put this through my Maureen Dowd translation machine:
"Madrid is in? Tokyo is in? How did those backwards foreigners beat us out?"

Hey Rep. Grayson, Run Along While the Grown-ups Talk Politics

One week ago you probably would have thought "Rep. Who?" but today you recognize Alan Grayson's name as "that guy from the video saying Republicans want you to die." That was the whole point though. Rep. Grayson saw a chance to get invited to some morning talk shows and maybe mentioned on some blogs; all he had to do is waste time on the House floor with his little stand-up routine.

How cute. Next he went on said morning shows and continued in his iron-clad health care argument of "Republicans are dumb." (Seriously, when will liberals come up with something new?) Warning: Full-frontal James Carville at 3:16.

Let's assume his fictitious  44,000 people die each year "due to lack of health care" is accurate. He then explains that number saying "that's over 4,000 people almost every month." Do the math 44,000 divided by 12 is 3,666.6. That's not "over 4,000 people almost every month" (whatever that even means) in fact, it's under 4,000 every month. Don't blame Grayson for his poor math skills though because it's the Republicans who are the dumb "neanderthals", right?

Before you start saying "one death is too many" remember that there is a federal law that requires emergency rooms to treat anyone who comes in their door.

To be fair, Wolf "lowest score on Jeopardy" Blitzer does attempt to call Grayson down when he resorts to simple name-calling instead of debating the facts.

Congressman Grayson, why don't you run on home to Disney World while the grown-ups talk politics because you're not adding anything to this dialogue as it is.

Correction: I misquoted Rep. Grayson in critiquing his math skills. I originally quoted his figure as 47,000 people who die each year due to lack of health coverage, but he actually said 44,000 people. As it turns out this makes his math even worse. It has been corrected in the body to reflect the numbers he cited.
