Happy Birthday, Change Barack!

I was so busy yesterday that I forgot to wish Change Barack a happy one-year anniversary. I want to say thank you to everyone who reads Change Barack. You guys keep me motivated to stay on top of things in the world of politics almost as much as seeing the ever-declining poll numbers of President Obama.

By the way, did you hear he would lose in a head to head race with Huckabee? Yeah. I don't presume to believe this blog has had any significant impact on the political scene over this past year, but when you consider that the Tea Party movement was not even a concept a year ago, it helps you realize that the seemingly insignificant grassroots can move the world. Keep up the good work.

I appreciate each of you who reads the items I post here, and although the frequency of my posts have fallen off in recent months due to some family responsibilities (all good stuff, don't worry!) I enjoy reading your comments and learning from you all.  Year two has begun and hopefully Change Barack will be made obsolete in 2012. Stay strong everyone!

Let's take a look back at the 5 most popular posts from this past year.

5. Let the Eat Steak

Remember when the Obama's enjoyed their Valentine's Day dinner... in Chicago. The First Couple's date night caused the ailing American tax payer a cool $300,000.

4. 3 Indications that Barack Obama Hates England

The most astounding thing about this post is that it still gets hits from people who Google the phrase "Why does Barack Obama hate England?" While the events that first caused us to ask this question seem quite distant now, the sentiment still seems to resonate with some users on the web.

3. The Tea Parties are Gaining Traction

In March, who knew what a modern Tea Party even was much less the impact they would have on races nation-wide a few months later? Since then thousands of people have gotten involved in politics at ever level of government. Despite being demonized as "racists" and "angry mobs" the Tea Party movement has stayed strong and continued to hold its footing.

2. 4 Shocking Things Obama Wants You to Pay For

The $800 billion stimulus package was one of the first harbingers of what this administration would present to this nation. Coasting on the back of residual anger of the economic collapse of 2008 and some very undeserved goodwill provided by the American people, the stimulus package passed relatively easily through the Democratic congress into the waiting signing hand of Barack Obama. Nowadays the stimulus is almost universally recognized a waste-filled pork bill, as we were telling the American people from day one. I guess you have to actually go out and waste $800 billion dollars before you realize that wasting $800 billion on stupid stuff is a bad idea.

1. Top 20 Tea Party Signs

People wanted ideas for signs to make for their local Tea Party events, so I posted this list of a few of my favorites. Several other blogs linked to it as the July 4 Tea Parties were ramping up and just before the 9-12 march on Washington. It's interesting to see the signs that would still be relevant at a Tea Party today and which ones were specific to the events taking place a few months ago. (This was early in my blogging careers, so the dead links to the images also taught me to host them myself just to keep the links alive better.)
