Olbermann to Dallas Tea Party: "I have lots of black friends."

Who honestly thought Olbermann would respond to the Dallas Tea Party's invitation to attend their event on Saturday? Well he did, and, as expected, he declined.

This is the significant portion:
"that will probably be a surprise to one of our regular daytime news anchors and one of our nighttime newscasters, and the two part-time newscasters, and the dozen minority anchors and reporters who often join us from the broadcast NBC network, and the seven salaried contributors to MSNBC, to say nothing of the regular guests."

1 regular daytime news anchor
1 nighttime newscaster
2 part-time newscasters
12 anchors and reporters (from NBC, not MSNBC)
7 salaried contributors to MSNBC

These 23(!) people of color work for MSNBC (or NBC), yet not one of them appears on the MSNBC lineup.

Where are you hiding them, MSNBC? At the back of the network's bus? Do you give them their own lunch counter, too? Oooooo Too soon?

Dallas Tea Party Invites Keith Olbermann Out to Experience Diversity

You remember a while back when the Dallas Tea Party invited Janeane Gerafalo out to a tea party? Well they're at it again, this time inviting Keith Olbermann out of his all-white bubble at MSNBC to the tea party in Dallas on February 27.

Odds that he takes them up on the invite? Virtually nil. Odds that Olbermann continues making a fool of himself as he drives MSNBC's ratings into the basement? Well, that one's a lock.

Oh no! Candidate for Texas Governor Debra Medina Wishy-Washy on 9/11 Truth

Debra Medina was doing so well. She was up 20 points in the polls since last month and might have overtaken Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison, but the doors of political opportunity slammed quickly this morning during an interview with Glenn Beck. Here is the audio of the significant portion of the interview.

Well she didn't come out and say she's a truther, but she got pretty close. At least she didn't sign a petition, right? I suspect the Rick Perry campaign is already crafting their next ad.

Glenn Beck's producer said it best later in the show, "In the Texas Governor's race, if you want a 9/11 truther candidate, you just found one in Debra Medina." Ouch.

What do you think? Does something like this kill her chances?

Now Obama's Pretty Cool with Multimillion Dollar Bonuses for Wall St. Bankers

He's either losing his mind or he's a liar, but now Obama claims that he doesn't "begrudge" multi-million dollar bonuses given to "savvy" Wall St. bankers even though he used to refer to such bonuses as "obscene." Bloomberg reports:
Feb. 10 (Bloomberg) -- President Barack Obama said he doesn’t “begrudge” the $17 million bonus awarded to Chief Executive Officer Jamie Dimon or the $9 million issued to Goldman Sachs Group Inc. CEO Lloyd Blankfein, noting that some athletes take home more pay.

So what caused this sudden change of heart? The third paragraph might provide the answer:
“I know both those guys; they are very savvy businessmen,” Obama said in the interview yesterday in the Oval Office with Bloomberg BusinessWeek, which will appear on newsstands Friday. “I, like most of the American people, don’t begrudge people success or wealth. That is part of the free-market system.”

As for most of the American people sharing Obama's new-found love of bank bonuses, he should check the ranks of his own party. Just a cursory listening of NPR on any given day will show you that the lefties out there do begrudge these types of bonuses.

But these guys are cool; Obama knows these guys. The question is this: How well does he know these guys? Does he know them "campaign contribution" well? Hmmm? He knows them could've-served-in-the-cabinet well, which is worth quite a bit these days.

Glenn Beck Smacks Down Joe Klein

I don't know how I missed this video last week that Mediaite called "The Best Fifteen Minutes of Glenn Beck Ever." Joe Klein claimed that the average American is just too dumb to understand the awesome awesomeness of the stimulus package. Tasty morsels of humor rain out of the Joe Klein piƱata as Glenn lands blow after blow. It really is fifteen minutes long, and it really is worth every second of your time.

If you're looking for more examples of stimulus waste, check out this post from last spring highlighting some of the "shovel-ready" goodness. Or learn about how the stimulus paid $1.2 million for 2 pounds of ham.
